I DEFINE BEAUTY
Beauty is not in my looks,
Beauty is what you read in books…
Beauty is not the colour of my skin,
Beauty is from where I begin…
Beauty is not in thickness of my hair,
Beauty is what you feel anywhere…
Beauty is not in the story of a fairy,
Beauty is in the confidence I carry…
Beauty is not in clothes I drape,
Beauty is in my readiness with cape…
Beauty is not in curves of my body,
Beauty is everywhere and is in everybody…

LIFE, FEW YEARS AGO
It seems life was simple years ago,
Everything was steady and slow…
We all were stupid creatures,
But at least we had time to appreciate nature…
Mud houses, lanterns and families were around us,
Nothing much was there to fuss..
We were unaware about the word ‘extinct’,
World is now an upgraded place after mankind was linked…
(Recreated Illayaraja’s oil painting in Acrylic base)

RESTORE THE CONFIDENCE
I am stronger than before,
It’s time for faith to restore..
Now, I’ll lead my path with confidence,
Past learning and years of experience…
Judge me if you have so much time,
When I’m free, I’ll watch all your mime…
That doesn’t concern me anymore,
My aim is no more to score…
I’ll make my world a better place to live,
Where everyone is ready to give and forgive…
Happiness is not achieved, when you smile alone,
This will be the state which I’ll own…

STORY IN MY MUSIC
You must have heard me when you visit places,
Temple mosque or palace, we have similar faces…
Yes, we hold some basic ancient instrument,
Some with tambura, flute or tin trumpet…
We entertain you to feed our families,
We are not beggars like you think in your analogies…
We hold the respect in the turban we wear,
We also love and we also care…
We receive different responses from people around us,
Some click photos and some just create fuss..
If you find time, hear the music that we create for you,
And enjoy this world from our point of view.

PEACEFUL SLEEP
Watching you perform was a visual treat,
You were an extraordinary actor, so hard to beat,
You ruled the heart of audience with gaudiness,
Yes, your skills, acting and life lessons were always accrete…
You always had a personal touch in your scenes,
Your message to people and society was always clear on screen,
Oh yes, you always entertained us with some substance,
When you’re now gone the whole world screams.

CHAMELEON
Watching you perform was a visual treat,
You were an extraordinary actor, so hard to beat,
You ruled the heart of audience with gaudiness,
Yes, your skills, acting and life lessons were always accrete…
You always had a personal touch in your scenes,
Your message to people and society was always clear on screen,
Oh yes, you always entertained us with some substance,
When you’re now gone the whole world screams.

Aparna Sahu.

Paintings, sketches, write-ups and for everything I attempt, my family is my inspiration. They celebrate every milestone I achieve(as small as making a landscape) and it makes them happy which in turn makes me happier.

Seashore in San Diego, CA. It was during early spring. I was so touched by the golden color on the cliffs during sunset time. Everything feels so warm and nice.

Start my exploration on drawing something other than landscape, and using pen to add texture. It was so much fun!

Drawing in more creative way to show the change of seasons.

As more experience I have been gaining, I add more details, textures, challenges of using colors, etc. in my painting to make them look more real.

Jianqiao Luan.

Greetings! My name is Jianqiao Luan. Thank you for looking at my watercolor paintings and hope you enjoy them!

I fell in love with drawing since I was little and my favorite things to doodle were plants. I used my color pens to illustrate my young understanding of leaves, flowers, branches, fruits, etc. and I even made some exhibitions in my room and let people to look, which was (and still is) something really fun in my memory.

My love of watercolor painting started from watercolor illustration classes in my bachelor study. I was doing mostly landscape paintings. After those classes I started to explore on drawing more kinds of things. Now, my favorite subjects to draw are landscape, cityscape, plants, birds, etc.

Watercolor really makes my life colorful. I spend most of my free time on watercolor painting. It is a hobby but I treat my paintings as some real works so some times it can be tiring and stressful, but every time I finish a painting, I feel so proud of myself and very encouraged.

I will be doing watercolor painting continuously and I am looking forward to gain more experiences and better skills. Hope you like my story, and if there is some connection or willingness to communicate, welcome to reach out to me and I would love to talk!

I am always fond of animals. These paintings are inspired from the photos that I took in my homeland Bukidnon. One of the mountainous regions of the Philippines. I like how I try to capture the quaint environment my hometown has with animals as my subject.

This was a plain air painting that I did when I visited a farm. I felt solitude and calm when I went there so I reflected it on the feel of the painting entirely made of fleeting brushwork

Having always been interested in architecture. I usually paint them on how buildings reach out to me on an emotional level.

Acquired this reference photo from pixabay. The play of light and shadows on the landscape immediately caught my eye. It also exhibits a nice sense of linear and atmospheric perspective good for a painting.

This is from an old photo that I took during my internship in Thailand. I just thought it would be a nice subject to paint.

Orlan Rey Diana.

Hi. Thank you for having the time too look at my paintings! I’m Orlan, 24 years old, a veterinarian from the Philippines and a self taught artist. I’m relatively new to this scene which I started last year. It all started when I was hooked with Studio Ghibli movies that I thought it would be nice to create something this comforting and relaxing. I had a newfound passion in water color paintings before I knew it.

Fascinated with art since my childhood, always reading books and articles about famous artist but I have never tried painting aside from the usual sketches on my notebooks and a few cartooning contests I’ve joined.

I love painting landscapes, architecture, animals, and I’m trying to master painting cityscape. Painting eases my anxiety as it is my form of meditation. I’m glad that I am able to share my works here on this website. More power to you.

Hey, thank you for taking the time of of your precious day to look at my paintings.

I’m Larissa and I am a so called self taught artist. As a child, if it was a rainy day, I loved to sit at the kitchen table and draw, while listening to an audio play on tape in the background.
I love the beauty of the world which God created. In nature there is an infinite number of colors and forms. A glorious sunset, a flowering meadow, the magnificent ocean, the peaceful atmosphere of the forest the different formations of the clouds and so much more. When I am outside my eyes are drawn to the beauty of it all and in my mind I am already painting, foremost to give honor to God. Above all, Humans are very emotional beings. Therefore, We feel sadness, joy, happiness, peace, hope, fear, to name a few. In my mind certain emotions form a bond with certain elements of nature. Flowers relate to joy and happiness, the forest to peace, the ocean fills you with longing and so on.
Above all, I want to visualize the connection of God’s creation with the human emotions in my paintings.

The primary media I use are oil paints and watercolors. I love the distinct difference between these two media. The long drying time of the oil paints give me the opportunity to work as long on a painting as it takes, until it tells me it’s done. Watercolor on the other hand allows its pigments to spread wherever they find a way on wet paper, so it often decides for itself how the final appearance of the image will look like. However, Its always a surprise.
I’m happy to have given you a little insight into my world of thoughts and hope to give you clarity of your emotions in your mind when you look at my paintings.

The mighty rocks of the waterfall glistening with the fresh droplets, the endless flow of the water seeming like an eternal elixir.

The little songbird, with a voice so sweet that no fruit can match it, so healing that it’ll wash all your worries away making you drift off to heavenly pleasure.

Watching the northern lights dance in the sky, a sight so unreal and alluring. A bliss to the eyes and peace like nowhere else. No camera or paintbrush can ever do justice to this beauty.

Hours under the infinite sky seem like a movie to me, showing a different color every time, narrating a story of its own.

Those lush green trees stand tall and proud like noble giants, safeguarding and providing a home to countless little creature.

Majestic mountains

Hey! Thanks a lot for finding the time to look at my paintings. I am Radhika. I get drawn to aesthetic things like a honeybee gets attracted to flowers. Nature has always aroused my curiosity and I perceive it as an ever changing canvas with new paintings for us to interpret every single day. Thus the main source of inspiration for my work is nature. As Albert Einstein said the most beautiful gift of nature is that it gives one pleasure to look around and try to comprehend what we see.Painting brings me peace and takes me to a world of my own, away from the hectic and busy life of 21st century. I believe in experimenting in various mediums, always pushing myself to get better and learning something new everyday

I seek to bring the most of this beauty that I possibly can on a sheet of paper in order to make people aware of the treasures that lay unexplored by them amidst their busy lives. Some of my paintings are my own interpretations of these beautiful scenery whereas some are in their realistic forms. I’ve recently started learning the watercolor medium under the guidance of amazing teachers online like Shiba basan,  Dhritikana Nath, Anna Mason, Angele Kamp and I have included s watercolor paintings that I learnt to paint in their classes as well.

Hey there!

How nice that you take some time to look at my artwork! It is the source of my peace, it is where I get to sink my mind in a fantasy world after a hard days work. I hope you also can find a  safe place like this, perhaps in creating as well? Let me inspire you!

I like to try everything, from drawing with a pen, charcoal, sticks my fingers to brushes on everything from napkins, clothes or stones to a canvas with all kinds of motives and styles. My hope is to create something I want to keep looking at, because I can shift my vision from abstract to reality or from some meaning of the picture to another.

These moments fascinate me deeply in life, the moments when I get a glimpse of another viewpoint, when I get to see the world through somebody elses eyes, when I find a blind spot in my view or learn a new concept. In that way  my work as a doctor both inspires my artwork and is inspired by this need to connect and to learn.

In the following Pictures I will try to explain to how I aspire to  achieve this shifting-moment.

Here you can see two fairly realistic scenes. That is where I start off my drawing, it is my training. In order to be able to make the observer recognize, I focus on what’s important- the foreground, light and shadow ect. This Focus remains the most important factor for me throughout my work.

In these two pictures I shift my focus to somewhat unusual excerpts of reality, which therefore can appear to be abstract scenes at first glance.

The next ones show you how I start to simplify forms and textures, notice how I don’t draw the tigers fur or the leaves for example.

I start to loose touch with reality somewhat more, still these two scenes remind us of real scenes in color and form. But notice how the branches don’t grow in a realistic way so it gives the impression of a wide angle with a look up. The second image can be a women looking to the left or a man looking to the right, so you can shift the view.

You can probably still guess what inspired me for these works, even if I didn’t use the right colors and distorted the form. In the first picture your eye can chose what is in the foreground and whether to see waves,  mountains and fire, a burst of colors or something completely different.

I hope I could inspire you to get creative!

As it goes down,
So you come up high,
beneath this water,
under the sky.

This too shall pass ; For the sake of universe ; for the love of wisdom ; calling onto thee ; embrace your desire ; worship your demons ; let go of boundaries.

Obsessed with peaks,
indifferent to crests,
oh son of the morning,
daughter of the dusk,
ponder thy soul
and do what you must.

Unable to live the fantasy,
unable to feel the sigh,
able to weave the words,
able to create a lie.

Chaos as they come,
calm as I run,
towards you.

Water ahead,
water behind,
salt in my water,
salt in my mind.

Creatures of the sky and creatures of the earth,
do you really know what gives you your dearth?

Ruchi Gupta.

Hi ! I like to introduce myself usually as a translator, translator to the thoughts that run through my head when I want to be in “my place”. Now my place could be anywhere in the world consisting of numerous elements or sometimes a few. All I know is, in that very moment the picture is the place or those are the elements which would make me feel home or calm me down. I relate to what I paint or sketch, I want to recreate the very moment of my past I cannot walk back to. Hence, the sole theme of my works revolve around nostalgia and the places I have been to. It is basically a message to bring me home, to calm me down and to feel what I felt in that moment.

I believe we all have our moments of distress and oblivion all at once, what one naturally does is resort to calm oneself by doing something which brings in a smile or peace. When I look at my work hanging by the wall, all I could think of is what I was doing the day I visited that place and why that place took my breath away or what did that silly Tom recite. If nothing I just end up smiling or thinking of calling that Tom or just for a split second not be in the heat of that moment. I want people to feel the same when they look at my work. People to break a smile or just maybe plan to visit some place like that or maybe admire the evening a little more. I want every spectator to be moved.

All I know is that my work makes me feel empowered enough to run down the memory lane, exactly the way I remember it and helps me realize what all mattered. The whole theme I run my circles around is what made me “feel at peace” from the cotton candy sky to melting your heart sunset and from soul crushing waves to empty beaches is what I crave in my soul to be. Hence, I translate my feelings and recreate the same.
